We are sad to announce the unexpected death of Betty Swearinger.
Betty was born on October 8, 1941 in Redding, Ca. She passed away on October 31, 2022, at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, Ca.
Betty was a Colusa County resident for over 60 years. While living in Princeton, she raised her boys and daughter. She worked 35 of those years in the Radiology department at Colusa Medical Center.
Betty was an avid gardener and loved all her plants. Her hobbies included making jams, jellies, acorn soup and making floral arrangements, even winning multiple ribbons in the Colusa County Fair.
In her retirement she spent a lot of time gardening, taking trips to the Casino and spending time with her great grandkids who were the light of her life. Betty was not blessed with any great-granddaughters (yet).
If you ever went and visited Betty, you always left with some goodies to take home. She will definitely be missed
Betty is survived by her sisters Marge Andresen of Portland, Ore., Elaine Butcher of Redding, Calif.; step-sisters Lola Hodges, of Alaska, and Barbara Lucero, of Redding, Calif.; Sons David Swearinger, of Corning, Calif., Allen Swearinger, of Princeton, Calif., Leonard Swearinger, of Fortuna, Calif.; and daughter Sonia (Moon Beam) Pina, of Colusa, Calif.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Rebecca Swearinger, of Paradise, Calif., Carlino Swearinger, of Pennsylvania, Robyn Ayala, of Colusa, Calif., Tyler Swearinger, of Covelo, Calif., Bailey Swearinger, of Corning, Calif., Darren Swearinger, of Chico, Calif., Autum Pina, of Colusa, Calif. and great-grandchildren Kayden Whiting, Deegan McVicar, Jacob Swearinger, Carlino Whiting, Skylar Swearinger, Tokoda Whiting, Jeremy Swearinger, Julian Swearinger, Jaxxson Swearinger and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in Death by her favorite dog, Smigle.
Visitation will be held 4-8 PM on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at McNary Moore Funeral Home, 107 5th St., in Colusa. Flowers can be sent to McNary Moore.
