Betty Twombly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hile-Best Funeral Home on Sep. 8, 2025.
Betty Twombly passed away peacefully and went to the home she had so faithfully awaited on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.

She was born on July 13, 1934, in Tionesta, PA, to the late Agnes and Calvin Wert. On October 10, 1958, she married Kenneth Leroy Twombly at the Tionesta Free Methodist Church; they celebrated 54 years of marriage until his passing on May 7, 2012.

Betty was a longtime member of the First Free Methodist Church in Oil City, where she taught Sunday School and helped with many church functions. She spent time every day reading her Bible and in prayer, drawing strength from her faith. She also loved being outside, working in her yard, decorating, or sitting on her porch on a summer day. Betty also enjoyed reading home decorating magazines, always looking for new ideas to bring into her home. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters.

She is survived by her son, Dan Twombly and wife Darlene of Oil City; two grandchildren, Kristy Ference and husband Ryan of Seneca, and Jeff Twombly and wife Morgan of Erie; and three great-granddaughters, Kaitlynn, Eryn, and Adyson Moore; as well as a son-in-law, Randy Soborowski of Oil City. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheri Soborowski.

At her request, there will be no visitation or public funeral. A private graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery in Cranberry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 South Main St., Seneca, PA 16346.
