Betty Lou Freeman Walters, 80, of Sevierville, TN and formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 28, 1944, in Marlboro County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Preston and Gertrude Driggers Freeman and widow of John Paul Walters Sr.
Mrs. Walters loved to read. She retired from Arthur State Bank and was employed at Woodruff State Bank for twelve and a half years and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Survivors include her children, Donald Walters (Daphne) of Barnwell, SC, John Walters Jr. (Elizabeth) of Fountain Inn, SC, and Amy Shults (Brent) of Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Keeton Shults (Renee), Macy Shults (Ryan), Auburn Ferguson (Justin), Alyssa Walters, John Paul Walters III, and Jeb Walters; great-grandchildren, Fisher Ferguson, Walt Ferguson, Reed Ferguson, and Sophia Dean. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Shirley Mumford of Wilmington, NC. brother, Ervin Freeman of Dillon, SC; sister, Patricia Stubbs of Bennettsville, SC; and her furry shih tzu buddy, Toby.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, April 29, 2024, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel conducted by the Rev. Teresa B. Lewis. Burial will be in Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Rd., Moore, SC 29369.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
