Mrs. Betty Joe White

Betty Joe Murphy White, 78, wife of the late Hershel Clifford White, of Walhalla, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at her home. A native of Oconee County, SC, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late Joe Dan and Pauline Lay Murphy. She retired from Jacob's Chuck and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. White is survived by her sons: Mark White (Jennifer) of Seneca and Michael White (Jennifer) of Clemson; daughters: Becky Hurdt (Ronnie) of Walhalla and Beth Hall (Ray) of Walhalla; sisters: Mildred Peay of Westminster, Connie Elrod of Westminster and Audrey Wilbanks of Mountain Rest; brothers: Dan Murphy of Seneca, Ernest Murphy of Salem, Rickie Murphy of Walhalla and Vance Murphy of Walhalla; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friend: Ruby Lusk. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her sisters: Genevia Burgess, Rosella Green, Ivaline Tilson and Julia Peay. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 6, 2025, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, P.O.
