A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Bettye Jean (Thornton) Reynolds, age 92, will occur on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 12 pm in the Hunt Funeral Home Chapel in Bradford, TN. Visitation with family members will open at 10 am.
Mrs. Reynolds was born April 8, 1932, in the Currie Community of TN (near Dyer, TN), to Bertie Crouse Thornton (mother, deceased) and Leslie Homer Thornton (father, deceased). She transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday November 2, 2024, in Winston Salem, NC. Prior to moving to NC three years ago, she was a long-term resident of Bradford, TN.
She is survived by Clarence R. (Bob) Reynolds (husband), Johnny D. Reynolds (son), Jeanie M. Reynolds (daughter-in-law), Cate Thornton Reynolds (granddaughter), and Sylas M. Reynolds (grandson) of Kernersville, NC, and Ms. Peggy C. Thornton (sister) of Trenton, TN.
Her extended family includes Wallace Thornton (brother, deceased), Laverne Thornton (sister-in-law, deceased), Carloyn Little (niece); Lee Roy Thornton (brother, deceased), Hazel Thornton (sister-in-law, deceased), Cecilia Stafford (niece); Rebecca Morgan (sister, deceased), Richard Gonzalez (nephew), David Gonzalez (nephew, deceased), Sherry Gonzalez (niece, deceased); and numerous grand- and great-grand- nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Reynolds was a lifelong Christian and continually active in her church life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, quilt-making, bird watching, following various sports teams, and being a part of the lives of her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Reynolds asked that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian humanitarian aid organization that supports people in need and missionary work (www.samaritianpurse.org).
