Beulah Mitchell, age 93, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, strength, and devotion to family.
Beulah was born on December 11, 1932, in
Clovis, New Mexico, and was raised on a farm in Grier, New Mexico. From a young age, she learned the value of hard work and perseverance, qualities that shaped her life and defined her character. She later raised her own family on a farm also in Grier alongside her high school sweetheart and lifelong partner, Elbert Mitchell.
She attended school in Ranchvale, where she was quite the basketball player. Beulah married Elbert on March 26, 1950, and graduated from Ranchvale High School in May of that same year. Their marriage spanned nearly 63 years, a testament to love, commitment, and partnership, until Elbert's passing in 2013.
A true farm woman, Beulah worked tirelessly alongside her family. There was no task she could not do, working cattle, building fences, and driving tractors and grain trucks. She did it all with remarkable speed, and her work ethic was unmatched. Beulah was also an exceptionally skilled seamstress. She sewed clothing, quilted, made drapes and curtains, and upholstered furniture. Her craftsmanship and generosity touched many lives. An excellent cook, baker, and canner, Beulah also took great pride in preparing delicious meals for her family. She was known for her applebutter and enchiladas. She is remembered for bringing many home-cooked meals to the fields during harvest time, which brought much joy and relief from work as the family ate and laughed on the tailgates of pickups.
Beulah will be remembered as smart, witty, organized, and decisive. She was a fun and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who cherished time with her family. Above all, Beulah was a woman of deep faith. She found her greatest joy in the Lord and lived her life guided by that faith. She was a devoted member of Legacy Church in Clovis, where she was loved by many.
Beulah's life was one of strength, work ethic, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
"She sets about her work vigorously;
Her arms are strong for her tasks.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
She can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness."
Proverbs 31:17, 25–27
