Jean Schurch, 92, of Elk Rapids, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025. She was born in 1933 and was the eldest of three daughters of Leona and Harold Chesbrough.

Mrs. Schurch is preceded in death by: her parents; her sisters, Nancy (Henderson) and Judy (Chaundy); her dear high school friend, Betty Cooper' and a number of cats. She is survived by: her sons, Mark (Bonnie Sutton) and Jordan; stepdaughter, Cheryl Wilcox (Bruce Wilcox); brother-in-law, Jerry Chaundy; nephews, Jeff, Bruce, David, Rick, Eric; and niece, Kathi.

Jean grew up in Lincoln Park, MI, where she met her husband Kenneth Kink (1931-1963) in high school. They were parents to sons Mark and Jordan.

Jean met fellow churchgoer Richard (Dick) Schurch at Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church Livonia, MI, and they married in 1968. After many years in Livonia, they moved to Elk Rapids.

Jean and Dick were active at First Presbyterian Church of Elk Rapids and in the local Newcomers Club. They enjoyed G&Ts on the deck, admiring the everchanging view of the bay from their home in Elk Rapids on East Bay.

Prior to meeting Dick, Jean worked as a fashion model. After she and Dick married, she owned a needlework shop and became one of the top "stitchers" in the US, teaching the craft and designing many originals.

Her other interests included cooking and entertaining, decorating, antique collecting (ESPECIALLY white wicker furniture), gardening, bible study and cats.
