Beverly Ann Barnes, fondly known as "Maw," passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 74 in Union, Ohio. Born on November 25, 1951, in Lafayette, Louisiana, she was a beloved figure to many, known for her fiery spirit and unwavering dedication to her family.
Maw was a talented cook, famed for her delicious Cajun dishes that brought loved ones together around the dining table. She had a nurturing heart and would always prepare a plate of food for anyone who walked through her door, ensuring that no one went hungry in her presence. Her signature saying, "Bushel and a peck a hug around the neck, I love you," encapsulated her affectionate nature, leaving a lasting imprint in the hearts of those who knew her.
Beyond cooking, Beverly found joy in sewing, crocheting, and diamond art. She was a little woman with a fierce personality, exhibiting a selflessness that defined her life. Family was her priority, and she would drop everything to care for those she loved, showing her fierce love in every way possible.
She leaves behind her children: Kenneth Barnes Jr., Keith Barnes, Kevin Broussard, Albert Barnes, and Crystal Oaks. Maw was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, cherished by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by several siblings who appreciated her spunk and love.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Rocky" Barnes, her father, Louis Gary, her mother, Beverly Maitre, and several siblings. Her legacy of love, cooking, and family devotion will continue to resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know her.
