Beverly Jean Berger

Beverly Jean Berger, 86, of Waukee, Iowa, went home to her Savior's arms on February 5th, 2022. She was born on October 28, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Roy and Mildred Summers. She is survived by her two sons, Kevin and his wife Janel, Kurt and his wife Pamella, her five granddaughters Jordan Holt, MacKenzie Gillaspey, Hannah Berger, Ashley Berger, Emily Sellers, and great-grandchildren, Finn and Kian Berger, and Emerie Holt. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, of 61 years just 18 days prior, her parents Roy and Mildred Summers, and sister Nancy Schumacher.
Beverly graduated from North High School in 1954. She remained a loyal supporter of her alma mater throughout the years. Whether playing, watching, or cheering on loved ones, sports were always a large part of her life. She played semi-pro women's fastpitch softball for Greenwood Electric, as well as spent a lot of her adult life traveling across the country to compete in bowling tournaments. She held numerous board positions with the Des Moines Women's Bowling Association and was inducted into the Greater Des Moines Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2003. She was also an avid, life-long golfer.
Beverly spent much of her working career in the insurance industry, later retiring from Farm Bureau. Throughout her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, lunch dates with friends and loved ones, and volunteering at her church, Westchester Evangelical Free Church.
