PERRY –
Beverly Abrams Birdsong, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 9, 2025, after a brief illness. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Perry Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Perry Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Carruth and Rev. Tommy Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the service.
Beverly grew up in Grovania and graduated from Perry High School with the Class of 1968. She was a long-time member of Perry Methodist Church and loved her church family. Most recently, she was a member of the Christadelphian Sunday School Class. A homemaker all of her life, Beverly always worked hard to create an inviting and encouraging atmosphere in which to raise her children. She was a fabulous Southern cook. Beverly, also known as "Ma," "Mom," and "Bev," enjoyed people and always opened her home to everyone, including her children and their friends, and her grandchildren and their friends. She attended countless sporting events cheering on her beloved grandsons. She enjoyed being a "boy grandma" and all that came along with them, like snails and puppy dog tails. Beverly loved all of her nieces and nephews like her own. She was literally a "bonus mom" to so many. She considered her great-nephew her "fifth grandson" to love. Her great-nieces, who shared her gift of singing and musical talent, delighted her, and she loved visiting them in Florida and seeing many of their chorus concerts. Naturally musically talented, Beverly played piano, loved traditional hymns, and enjoyed worshipping her savior singing in the choir at church.
Beverly loved all kinds of animals and plants. In fact, she had a green thumb like none other, and had a "jungle" at her home of all the plants she nurtured and helped to thrive in her home. Beverly enjoyed the Gulf of America, Panama City Beach, and especially the early days of the Palmetto Resort. She would often reflect on vacations with her family and extended family, with whom she loved to sit out and soak in the gulf coast air. Her character was built on strength and determination, and was a model of resilience, never allowing herself to give up. An authentic and genuine lady, she was just that as a mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend genuine, dependable, and loving. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Audrey Meadows Abrams.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Beverly are her loving and devoted husband of twenty-seven years, John Birdsong of Perry; her son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Hannah Bryant of Lilburn; her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Will Sexton of Perry; her grandchildren, Ashe Bryant, River Bryant, Liam Sexton, and Conner Sexton; her sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Johnny Scott of Perry; her nephew, Keith Pace (Jennifer); her niece, Christie Amerson (Steven); her great-nieces, Laura Kate Pace and Julianna Pace; her great-nephew, Lyndon Amerson; and a host of friends who also loved her dearly.
Condolences for the family may be held in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
