Beverly Cox, age 90, passed away on August 3, 2025. Born to Thomas and Genevieve Lloyd on July 26, 1935, Beverly lived a life full of creativity, determination, and love for her family and community.

She was first married to Eugene Wilcox, with whom she had four children: Debbie Dick (Ron), both of Romulus, MI (deceased); Thomas Wilcox (Armelda) of Taylor, MI; Jim Wilcox (deceased) of Sevierville, TN; and Dawn Witowski (Chris) of Mesa, AZ. In 1977, she married Claude Cox and shared her life with him until his passing in 2006.

Beverly's legacy includes 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren will never forget the joy of opening her signature Christmas boxes, packed to the brim with handmade clothes, and being dumbfounded by how she managed to fit so much into one package. They also treasure the feeling of seeing her birthday cards arrive in the mail every year.

In her younger years, Beverly was a dancer and an avid bowler. She had a flair for purple, animal prints, and sassy glasses. She loved unicorns, John Wayne, and disaster films. She wore high heels like a supermodel for as long as she could.

She worked in accounting at Southland Corporation but was most known for her talents as a crafter and seamstress. Whether crocheting, sewing, doing ceramics, or solving puzzles, she loved working with her hands. Beverly shared both her time and her talents liberally with others, decorating colleagues' desks and offices with her crafts, and donating countless creations to Warm Heart Ministries and to her fellow churchgoers at Forecast for Life Church. On her weekends, you could find her at local (and sometimes not-so-local) Mom2Mom sales with her booth full of Beverly's Blankets.

Later in life, Beverly managed the store at Southgate Co-Op, where she lived. She took pride in choosing and pricing items to meet the needs of her fellow residents, always keeping things personal. Her son, Tom, became her loyal and very patient sidekick on weekly supply runs, and handyman for her thoughtful and occasionally hairbrained ideas.

Beverly was fiercely independent. When her granddaughter once called her stubborn, she quickly corrected her: "I'm not stubborn; I'm determined." She was proud, complex, loving, and unapologetically herself.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and neighbors in the Southgate Co-Op community.
