Beverly Boggs Cureton, 88, cherished wife of Alfred Robinson Cureton, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at her residence in Moore, SC. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born in Lansing, Michigan, Beverly was the daughter of the late Robert D. and Juanita Hampton Boggs. She spent her formative years in Central, SC where she graduated from Central High School with the class of 1953. Throughout her life, she was lovingly referred to as "Mama B" and Mrs. Beverly by everyone who knew her.
Her roots ran deep within her beloved hometown of Central, SC. For over five decades, Beverly nurtured and guided countless children through her nursery and day care center. Her passion for the well-being of children extended beyond her immediate family – she became an integral part of the greater Central community and became a trusted companion to numerous generations of families.
An avid historian, Beverly co-founded the Central Historical Society and served as a reservoir of knowledge for anyone seeking information about the town's history. Her diligent efforts facilitated the inclusion of several buildings in Central onto the National Register of Historic Places.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Beverly was honored with the Central Area Business Council's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. The Town of Central, in appreciation for her dedication and service, recently dedicated the newly renovated Railroad Depot to Mrs. Ann Sheriff and "Mama B."
Beverly is survived by her devoted husband Alfred; daughters Debbie Williamson and husband Marty of Suwanee, GA., Lynn Skelton and husband B.J. of Six Mile, SC., Cindy Arnold of Seneca; son Bill Cureton and wife Lisa of Moore, SC; as well as grandchildren Brian (Debbie) Williamson, Jessica Williamson, Katie (Evan) Metrock, Ryan (Kenzie) Newton, Kimberly Newton, Nick (Theresa) Newton, Allison Arnold, Victoria Arnold, Haylee Cureton, and Hampton Cureton. She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was predeceased by her brother, Bill Boggs; her sister, Sharon Whitten; and her son-in-law Corey Arnold.
A memorial service commemorating Beverly's extraordinary life will take place at 2 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, located at 108 Cross Creek Road in Central, SC.
