Douglas Karl Oerth a loving husband, father, and grandfather, entered his heavenly home on Friday, March 5, 2026, at the age of 78 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family. Douglas was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Dr. Franz Edward Oerth and the late Beulah Ida Kirk Oerth.

Douglas served his country honorably in the 38th infantry division of the National Guard in Indianapolis, Indiana. When he retired in 2015 he was Director Of Quality Assurance with Sturdy Corporation in Wilmington, North Carolina. He took great pride in providing for his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed growing orchids, woodworking and researching his ancestry. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish Douglas’s memories are his loving wife of 58 years: Candace S Oerth; a son: Michael Oerth (Sarah); his two daughters: Melissa Oerth and Megan Oerth-Jones (Robert); grandchildren: Shelby Oerth, Miranda Oerth, Miles Jones, Logan Jones, Ethan Jones, and Emily Jones; two sisters: Deborah Rodgers (Ted) and Donna Johnson (Cliff). Several nieces and nephews also survive plus 15 and soon to be 16 great nieces and nephews

Douglas will continue to live in the hearts of his family.

The arrangements are trusted to the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
