Beverly Ann Demattia, a beloved and long-time resident of Clawson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2025, at the age of 86. Born to Gorden and Marcella Pittsley on November 26th, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, Beverly's life was a testament to love, creativity, and a deep devotion to her family and community.
Growing up in the Detroit area, Beverly attended Northwestern School through the 11th grade. She went on to forge a diverse and fulfilling career, including years of work soldering circuit boards and later becoming a skilled seamstress. One of her proudest professional accomplishments was working in the home of basketball legend Isaiah Thomas, where she created custom curtains, pillows, and reupholstered furniture.
In 2010, Beverly was widowed after 48 years of marriage to her loving husband, Nick Demattia. Their marriage was built on a foundation of love, laughter, and mutual support. Together, they raised a family that would continue to carry forward Beverly's legacy of devotion.
Beverly had a deep passion for crafting. Whether knitting, crocheting, or working with needlepoint, she found great joy in creating. She lovingly made Afghans and clothing for her children, often sewing their outfits by hand. Her gifts were always imbued with love and care, and she took great pleasure in sharing them with others. Beverly was also known for her exceptional cooking, particularly her delicious spaghetti and meatballs, a dish that will forever be a cherished memory for all who had the pleasure of enjoying it.
An avid sports fan, Beverly was passionate about several teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, the University of Michigan Football, the Detroit Tigers, and the Golden State Warriors. She was particularly fond of players like Patrick Mahomes, Stephen Curry, and Caitlin Clark and she enjoyed following their careers closely. However, it was her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. Beverly was deeply involved in their lives and could often be found attending their sporting events and cheering them on. Her unwavering love and support were constants that shaped the lives of those she touched.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Demattia, her son-in-law, J-Bird Reno, her parents, Gorden and Marcella Pittsley, her siblings, and her beloved Sheltie dog, Prince.
