John Albert DeMattia, a long time resident of West Bloomfield and more recently of Milford, MI, passed away peacefully at home on November 28, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Loving husband, father and papa. He was an amazing mentor to all. His smile brightened everyone's day. His family was the most important thing and he will be cherished in their thoughts and will live in his family's hearts forever. His legacy of honesty will reign forever.

John is survived by his daughters, Carolyn (Mark) Nelson and Debbie (Clay) DeMattia; son, John (Sharon) DeMattia; grandchildren, Sarah (Chinmay), Kirk (Michelle), Kevin (Lauren), Ashley (Nate) and Steven; great-grandchildren, Haley, Luke, Ethan, and the newest addition in February 2026; siblings, Mary, Bob, Katie DeMattia, and Sue Laskowski; also many extended family and dear friends.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Francesca DeMattia; and his daughter, Donna (Gary) Cline.
Visitation Services will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford 48381 on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 3 - 8pm. Eulogy and Time of Sharing will be held at 7pm.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4300 Walnut Lake Rd, West Bloomfield Township, MI 48323 on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11am. Gathering to begin at 10:30am. The Rev. Fr. Brian Chabala to officiate.
