William "Ray" Gully, 89, a long time resident of Milford, respected businessman, and generous mentor, passed away on his own terms on December 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen, with whom he shared many years of partnership, adventure, and unwavering commitment. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Samuel and Ethel Gully, his twin brothers, Edward and Aaron Gully, and his loyal, canine companions, Annie, Tiffany & Mona.
Born on March 12, 1936, Ray built a life defined by hard work, integrity, and a deep appreciation for the people and passions that shaped him. Over the course of his career, he became well known in the community as a dedicated food service broker and later as a trusted realtor. He approached his work with honesty and determination, cultivating relationships that lasted well beyond any transaction.
Ray was an entrepreneur at heart. As the owner of a canoe rental business, he shared his love of the outdoors with countless families, friends, and travelers. His loyal companion Annie ran the place; Ray funded her adventure. An avid, sailor, he found peace and purpose on the water, where the rhythm of wind and waves became a source of joy and reflection for him. Ray enjoyed playing music on his player piano for his wife, grandkids and for Annie.
Beyond his professional achievements and hobbies, Ray's legacy shines brightest in the impact he had on others. A mentor within AA programs, he offered compassion, guidance, and hope to those seeking a steady hand on their own journeys. His quiet strength, willingness to listen, and belief in healing touched many lives.
Ray was a volunteer member of the Dearborn Police department using his people skills to assist others in the community during difficult times.
At home, Ray was seldom seen without his loyal dog, Annie, who remained a close companion and constant source of comfort until her passing. Those who knew Ray will always remember the bond they shared.
William is survived by his children, Craig (Kim) Gully, Kim (John) White; his twin grandchildren, Kyle and Jessica White; his canine friends, Sara, Stevie and Winston. In addition, Ray is survived by his nieces, nephews, extended family, members, in-laws, and many dear friends who carry forward his memory, stories, lessons, and love.
