Beverly Geyer Obituary
She was born in New Kensington, Pa., on April 8, 1943, daughter of the late Dominick and Sophia (Pietzniak) DeSantis.
Beverly graduated from Springdale High School in 1962 and furthered her education at New Kensington Business School.
Beverly was a small business co-owner of Professional Diving Services Inc., in Springdale, which operated from 1967 to 2004, where she was a certified scuba instructor for over 30 years. Beverly was a juried artist with many blue ribbons. She worked with all mediums, from oil to acrylic and watercolor. She was known for creating original greeting cards.
Beverly was the beloved wife of Richard "Dick" Geyer, whom she married May 8, 1965; mother of Marne (Daniel) Kos and Brandy Geyer; sister of Dolores Friedman, and Richard and David (Deborah) DeSantis; and grandmother of Wyatt and Tyler Kos.
Along with her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Shaner.
GEYER - Family and friends of Beverly J. Geyer, who died Thursday, March 5, 2026, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A blessing service will immediately follow in the funeral home.

Dick, I was sorry to read of Beverly's passing in today's Post-Gazette. Tough way to go when your life partner is gone.
I was just thinking a couple days ago about the time we spent working on a CPR-Instructor course many years ago - you, me, Smitty, and Ray Hayes, who left a teaching job at Pitt to go to Woods Hole, I think. Sorry we weren't ultimately able to certify more SCUBA instructors as CPR instructors, but the Y probably made the right decision NOT to include the CPR-instructor stuff in SCUBA-instructor recertification institutes.
Last time I saw Smitty was when I invited him to a WWII-MIA symposium dinner at the Truman White House in Key West. It was prior to one of my MIA-related trips to Palau when I took my regulator to your dive shop in Springdale to be inspected when I discovered the dive shop wasn't there any more. Picture my surprise when I walked into a - dry cleaner, was it? - with an arm-load of dive gear only to discover that it was no longer a dive shop...

A dear friend is now at peace. Sharing part of her life has been one of the greatest treasures possible. Lots of laughs, many birthdays - hers for sure. Bev will be remembered for her teaching skills for many nervous divers, her beautiful art and for her kindness and friendship.
