Beverly Joy Henderson

Beverly Joy Becker Henderson passed away on March 8, 2026, just prior to her 92 nd birthday, after a short bout of pneumonia compounded by congestive heart failure. She was surrounded by her family, including her younger sister, Joanne, and three daughters and sons-in-law: Meg and Jim, Anne and Dan and Wendy and Mark. She was also able to visit or Facetime with her eight grandchildren and their spouses, Alex and Amy, Matt and Morgan, Kate and Ben, Claire and Bryn, Elisa and Shawn, Tim, Tom and Alex and Emma. She will also be missed by her four great-grandchildren, Athena, Arden, Damian and Theo.

Beverly was born in West Bend, Wisconsin, on May 29, 1934, to Milton and Alethea Becker. She attended Lawrence College where she majored in art and music and met her future husband, John Henderson. After their marriage, they moved to Camas, Washington in 1957. During the 16 years they lived in Camas, Beverly taught piano, raised three daughters and was involved in many church and community service activities. The family enjoyed outdoor sports such as skiing, hiking and backpacking, and boating together. From 1974 – 1977 Beverly and her family lived in Tiburon, California. They then moved back to Washington, settling in Federal Way. Beverly continued her involvement in music (handbell choir, piano) and sports (tennis and sailing) and many social activities. Upon John's retirement, the couple moved to Port Ludlow, WA where they enjoyed 22 years of sailing, hiking, travelling and hosting special family times.

After John's death in 2012, Beverly moved to Creekside Continuing Care Center in Burlington, WA in 2014. Although her physical health gradually declined during her 12 years there, she continued to take great pleasure in doing things for others and hearing about the lives of her children and grandchildren. Beverly was a wonderful sister, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always thinking of others and doing things to make them happy. Our family is fortunate to have many wonderful memories to treasure from our years with her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, 1511 E Broadway, Mount Vernon, WA 98274. The time will be set later, but will be in the early afternoon. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to travel to Washington State in person. Memorials may be made in honor of Beverly to either Lawrence University or The Becker Center at the YMCA in West Bend. Beverly came from a family that valued both education and community health, wellness and service, thus either of these institutions would be a great way to honor her.
