Beverly Mabbitt Obituary

Beverly Anne Mabbitt

March 13, 1947 - February 14, 2025

Beverly Anne Mabbitt, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Bev was born to Rita and Roger Morin on March 13, 1947, in Gardner, MA. They were devoted local furniture-makers who inspired her lifelong love for fine furniture and furnishings. She was fluent in French from her French-Canadian Catholic schooling in MA, which served her well traveling throughout France with her husband, Morrie. At 16, she graduated high school early and moved to Washington, DC to begin working for the U.S. Government in various secretarial roles. While working at the Department of the Navy in the late 1960s, she met her husband, Morrie, and they were inseparable until his death in 2022. Upon moving to Fredericksburg in the late 1970s, Bev owned several businesses, including an interior decorating company and successful real estate and rental property companies.

She found her true passion in life as a Realtor, earning many top accolades and awards. Bev deeply cared about her clients, treating them all as family. During her career as a Realtor, she served as a President of the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors, was a member of the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors, a Vice President of Mount Vernon Realty (later Weichert Realty), and Broker/Owner of her own Century 21 affiliate. She was a person of great integrity, personally and professionally, and she taught courses in real estate ethics.

Bev always enjoyed a good, humorous marketing angle! Some may recall Sidney Rabbit, the mascot of Century 21 Mabbitt and Associates, and his callout to "Get in the habit, think of Mabbitt for all your real estate needs." On another occasion, one of her Free Lance-Star ads was shown on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno "Headlines!" segment. At the time, many homes were bank-owned, and to differentiate a property, the ad remarked that it was "human owned."

Bev had a wonderful smile and a terrific sense of humor that will always be remembered! Bev lived a life full of adventure, enjoyed her travels to Europe and the Caribbean, and especially vacationing in her condo in Virginia Beach. She was a gifted storyteller, mentor, friend, and inspiration to many. She loved her family dearly -- she considered her many friends as family as well -- and she greatly appreciated all who have supported her and cared for her.

Bev is survived by her daughters, Tracy Mabbitt-Boone (Mark) and Michelle Spetnagel (Ward); grandchildren, Michael Gause (Cassandra), Amber Thames, and Amanda Gaumer (Benjamin); great-grandchildren, Bradley, Daniel, Ava, Gabriel, Rhiannon, and Evan; sister-in-law, Mary Pennino; brother-in-law, Bruce Mabbitt (Janet); nieces and nephews, Kara Pennino, Kristy Pennino (Volker), Bruce Mabbitt, Jr., and Sarah Owens (Matthew); and family member, Pattie Malone, who is very special to us all. Many others were near and dear to her heart, considered family in the truest sense, and please know she cared deeply in return. The family also wants to thank Walter "Penny" Pennino and Melissa Tolson, who have been especially kind and caring toward her and the entire family for many years.

Bev was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Morris Mabbitt; her father and mother, Roger and Rita Morin; her brother, Roger Morin; and her two nephews, Andrew and Tyler Morin.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Covenant Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, VA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church also in Fredericksburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Stafford County Fire and Rescue, or a charity of your choice.

I have such fond memories of working with Bev in real estate over the years. She was always so honest and kind and I know so many will miss her and her beautiful smile. May all the wonderful memories stay with her family and friends.

Bev was a one-of-a-kind special lady who was a leader in every endeavor she embarked on, and always with integrity, authenticity and love! The Angels are rejoicing she's home! We are saddened but only because we can't visit her, hear her voice and all wonderful, detailed and entertaining stories. I was privileged to learn from all her knowledge and know-how she so freely gave (except for technology, which was not a favorite of hers :). She was not only my Real Estate Business Partner, she was first a dear friend and like a second mother to me. I will miss her terribly, but take comfort that she believed in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bev, I will look forward to seeing you again and hearing more stories from Heaven one day. Rest in Heavenly Peace with your beloved Morrie! "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1
