Beverly Mary Malonson passed away on her husband’s birthday, November 24, 2024, at her home. She was born on January 18, 1943, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the daughter of Elizabeth Whelan and Earnest Carriera. At the age of 16, her parents divorced, and Beverly was forced to quit high school and stay home to help raise the family. She began working in a sewing shop, where she worked for most of her life, until her retirement.
She married Roger Malonson on June 23, 1962, in New Bedford, they had two children and were happily married until his passing in 2019. When her daughter was 16, Beverly decided it was time to go back and finish high school and graduate with her GED. Roger sidelined as a racecar builder and Beverly loved to drive in the Ladies Powder Puff races in Seekonk, MA. As a family, they enjoyed camping at the beach and their yearly summer trips to Cape Cod. She was an amazing mother and loved supporting her children’s hobbies, finding immense enjoyment watching Roger Jr.’s Hockey games and Michelle’s Dancing.
Beverly was a skilled seamstress and loved to sew. She also enjoyed painting ceramics. Beverly enjoyed being busy, even at the age of 70, getting a part-time job with Stop and Shop just to stay active.
She is survived by her children, Michelle (Paul) Battista and Roger Jr. (Roslynne) Malonson, grandchildren: Michael Battista, Sara Battista, Laura (Hayden) Christensen, Maria (Thomas) Foxley, Anna (Jalen) Jacobson and Shelbi Malonson, great-grandchildren: Lukas Foxley, Lincoln, and Nolan Jacobson, and baby girl Christensen coming February 2025.
