Amanda Lee Nessen was born on January 24, 1983, in Ogden, Utah, and returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on February 4, 2026.
From the very beginning, Amanda was pure sunshine. As a baby, her soft blonde hair framed her face like a halo, a quiet sign of the light she would bring into the lives of everyone who knew her. That light never dimmed.
As a child, Amanda loved the water. During her younger years in Maine, swimming became one of her greatest joys. Around the age of ten, she proudly competed in the Special Olympics, earning medals for her backstroke and participating in track as well. She also loved the stage, delighting in elementary school plays where her smile and enthusiasm shone just as brightly as any spotlight.
Amanda graduated from Tooele High School and continued to build a full, meaningful life rooted in connection and service. After high school, she served at the cannery alongside her beloved Grandma and Grandpa Southworth, a time filled with learning, laughter, and togetherness. In her 30s, she served a service mission at the Bishop’s Storehouse, faithfully giving her time and heart to help others. Amanda participated in SNAP, where she especially loved the activities and dances that allowed her to socialize and celebrate with friends.
This past year brought new joy through her attendance at PARC, where she thrived doing crafts, going on field trips, and spending time with friends she cherished deeply. Arts and crafts were always close to Amanda’s heart—you could almost always find her coloring while watching her favorite movies or TV shows.
Amanda loved stories that reflected wonder, goodness, and a touch of mystery. She adored mermaid shows and had a special love for dolphins. Her favorite shows included Touched by an Angel, H2O, and Ghost Adventures, each reflecting a different part of her curious, tender, and imaginative spirit.
More than anything, Amanda taught those around her how to love. Through her life, she quietly modeled unconditional love, patience, kindness, and the pure love of Christ. Her presence softened hearts, slowed hurried moments, and reminded everyone what truly matters.
Amanda shared a long and meaningful relationship with her boyfriend, Dusty Nance, who held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her Grandmother, Carol Southworth, her Mother, Shelly Eddington (Michael Eddington); her Father, Larry Nessen (Danelle); her Father by Birth, David Summerill; her Brother, Michael Nessen (Bobbi Nessen); her Sister, Aimee Martin (David Martin); her Brother, Robert Nessen (Belle Nessen); Stepsister, Lindsey Barwick (Ronnie Barwick); Stepbrother, Jordan Eddington (Tori Eddington); Stepbrother, Nathan Eddington (Oakleigh Eddington) and her beloved Nieces and Nephews, all of whom brought her great joy. She is also lovingly remembered by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Amanda’s life was a quiet testimony of love, service, and light. Though her time here feels far too short, the imprint she left is eternal. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Church located at 2865 W. 800 N., West Point, Utah 84015.
