Larry Howard Strong

Larry Howard Strong was called home on January 15, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born on May 31st 1951, in American Fork Utah to Elsie (Sturkie) and John T Strong where he was met by his brother and 2 sisters ... late joined by 2 more brothers.

Larry grew up and lived in various places from American Fork to Roy and finally settling in Syracuse, UT where he met the love of his life Sandra Beazer. They were high school sweethearts both attending Clearfield High School and were married June 5th 1970 and later solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on January 3rd 1975.

During Larry's life he loved fishing and camping with his father and family at Marsh Lake. He also loved going to scary Vincent Price movies with his mom while never telling her it scared him so he could have that time with her... this is where he gained his love for movie going, something we continued in our lives.

They were blessed with 4 boys and 1 girl, Robert Shane, Christopher Micheal, Jenny Lynn, Timothy Larry and Jeremy Chad; they all were a bright light in Larry's life. He spent a lot of time teaching them mechanics, gardening, hunting and a love for camping and fishing as he did. Such sweet memories were created with the grandchildren as well. He loved spending time with his cousins and extended family, which usually morphed into a large water fight; always started by him.

Larry has always been a kind and loving young man with lots of respect for those around him. He worried about the widows in the area and made sure the snow removal was taken care of for them in the winter. Most of all he loved our Heavenly Father. He taught his children to love the Lord as he read scriptures with them and taught them; most of all by example.

Larry worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, he worked for GSL which later became Compass Minerals for 44 years and was the shop foreman at the time he retired.

He had a love of music and sports, camping and fishing. His favorite singer were the Eagles and the Beatles. He also thoroughly enjoyed church music. He would often be found watching football games with his family. The Broncos, Rams and Eagles were his favorite although secretly the Raiders. He loved to take scouts camping and fishing for weeks at a time. And the joy of water skiing with all who would go.

Larry had various church callings, in the Bishopric twice, and that of Gospel Doctrine teacher which was his favorite calling. He loved the scriptures and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

He and Sandy served a service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Camp Liberty for 4 years+. They were there 6 days a week and loved every minute of it. The love they felt from those he served which built beautiful and lasting memories. He loved serving all the youth who came into that camp with his whole heart and was very particular in his caretaking. Often worried about how beautiful the camp looked and felt for all those who entered the gates. Let's just say no dead twig escaped him.

One of the hardest things Larry had to endure was the loss of his precious daughter Jenny and his tiny grandbaby Samuel. Those heartbreaks were almost more than he could endure. But he turned to the Lord to help hold him up.

Larry never wavered in his love and testimony of Jesus Christ and shared it with all those around him in his words, but most of all his actions. His greatest love was his family and his devotion to his sweetheart Sandy whom he struggled to leave behind.

Larry is survived by his wife Sandra, Robert Shane (Heather), Christopher Michael (Christan), Timothy Larry (Jacque) and Jeremy Chad (Brittany).

He was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind 2 brothers and a sister John D. (Cathy), Laura (Dennis) Connolly, Robert A. (LaRue) and a sister-in-law Kathleen. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary (Miland) Farr and brother Gerald V, his daughter Jenny Lynn and grandbaby Samuel Lincoln. And many aunts and uncles he loved dearly.

His life was full of love, laughter, mischief and hard work and service to the Lord. HE leaves a legacy behind that most of us only dream of, he was admired by all. His life was made of service, caring for all around him, even in his last days, his time was spent worrying about those he would leave behind. He taught us all how to live and how to love and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

There will be a viewing Thursday, January 22nd 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Russon Mortuary 1585 W. 300 South Syracuse, UT 84075. Services will be held Friday, January 23rd, 11am at the Lakeview Ward 4900 South 2000 West Roy, UT 84067. There will be a view 9:45 - 10:45 am at this church prior to the service.
