Beverly Rhys, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026. She was born on September 3, 1943, in Belize to loving parents, Clive Hyde and Muriel Young.
She found joy in reading, baking, and beautifully decorating cakes, talents she shared generously with others. A natural helper, she took great pleasure in caring for those around her. Raised in Belize, she later ventured to the United States, settling in Florida and traveling across the country, embracing each new experience along the way. On Christmas Eve in 1957, she met the love of her life, her devoted husband. Throughout her life, her kindness and willingness to help others remained her greatest legacy.
She was preceded by death by her parents; children, Anita and Michael and brothers, Glenn and Albert and one-half brother.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Wayne Rhys; son, Eugene; daughters, Cathy, Beverly “Billy” and Ashley; 12 grandchildren, Jennie, Donald Jr. LaAnita, Jeremy, Devon Jakeya, Amani, Amari, Christopher, Christina, Jalen and Jessica; 7 great grandchildren; 3 brothers; 6 sisters; one half-brother and three half-sisters and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family is hosting a memorial service on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 1:00PM at Bemiss United Methodist Church (4879 Bemiss Rd. Valdosta, GA 31605).
