William M. "Billy" Spell Sr. of Valdosta, GA, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at Archbold Medical Center, leaving a legacy of dedication and love to his family and profession. Born on January 11, 1939, in Quitman, GA, he was a remarkable figure whose contributions extended beyond his work as an electrician.
Billy was the owner of Spell and Son Electric, a testament to his expertise and commitment to his trade. His lifetime of hard work and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike. His hands were often seen skillfully working on projects, embodying the essence of craftsmanship that is occasionally lost in today’s fast-paced world. He was also a founding member of the Lowndes Viking Touchdown Club.
He was a loving father to Sherry Ann Shelley (Mike) of Macon, GA; his son, William "Bill" Spell Jr., (Cynthia) of Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren: Tara Nolan, Kayla Boyd (Eric) and Emma Brooke Spell; great grandchildren: Devon Williams, Isabella Dobbs, Haylie Dobbs, Mattison Dobbs, Landon Dobbs, Hunter Boyd, Ryland Boyd, Evie Nolan, Nick Nolan and Lillie Nolan; sisters: LaVerne Norris of Valdosta, GA, Claudine Hardin of Tifton, GA, and Alene Horne of Perry, GA; brother, Edd Spell (Belinda) of North, GA; special caregivers, Terry Sullivan and Ed Nieto; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Mary Ann “Bunny” Spell, his daughter, Lisa Marie Spell, his sister, Emma Jean Paulk and his brother, Carnel Lee Spell.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta with burial to follow at Welcome Hill Church of Christ Cemetery, Quitman, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the funeral home.
