Obituary For Beverly Ann (Fitzgerald) Sexton

Newport News, VA - Beverly Ann (Fitzgerald) Sexton, affectionately known as Bev, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 88.

Beverly was born on May 17, 1937, in Shelby County, Indiana, to Alvin and Delores Fitzgerald, who preceded her in death. Her younger brother, Kenneth Fitzgerald, also preceded her in death. She was a 1955 graduate of Shelbyville High School in Shelbyville, Indiana. After a successful career in hotel management in Shelbyville, she moved with her family to Virginia in 1970 to manage the Newport News Ramada Inn. She then transitioned into cemetery sales in the early 1990's, working for Parklawn Cemetery then Greenlawn Cemetery until her retirement.

She is survived by her son, Todd Sexton (Emily), and her daughter, Sherri Haislip (Buddy); her grandchildren, Ashlee Haislip Miller, Jacob Sexton, and Hannah Sexton; and her greatgrandchildren, Harper Miller and Jacob Sexton, Jr.

Beverly will be remembered with a smile for the simple joys she loved in addition to her family - a cold Diet Coke, Grandma Utz potato chips, soap operas, Walmart, her treasured elephant collection, a stylish outfit with matching jewelry, and St. Patrick's Day celebrating her Irish ancestry.
