Beverly Jean (Nielsen) Skoug, age 85, passed away peacefully at Just Like Home Elder Care Facility in Chetek, WI, on February 11, 2026. She was born in St. Paul, MN, on July 21, 1940, to William and Estelle Nielsen.
Beverly grew up in East St. Paul alongside her parents and two younger brothers. After graduating from high school, she attended UW-River Falls, earning a degree in elementary education and a minor in art. There, she met her future husband, Darrell Skoug. They married in 1963 and settled on their farm in rural Chetek, where they raised three children together.
Beverly’s warmth and devotion touched everyone who knew her—whether as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, or friend. She found true joy in sewing, gardening, baking, and square dancing, but her greatest happiness came from bringing family and friends together for both special celebrations and simple everyday moments. Beverly was a woman of deep faith. As a dedicated member of the Dovre and Chetek Lutheran Churches, she taught Sunday school and lent her heart and hands to mission projects, always eager to help others.
Beverly’s passion for education inspired countless young minds during her years as a beloved fourth-grade teacher in Barron, Wisconsin. After retiring, she embraced new adventures working at the Calhoun Memorial Library and traveling with Darrell. Beverly treasured her time as "grandma," filling her grandchildren’s lives with love and cherished memories.
Beverly is lovingly remembered by her children: Wendy (Hugh) Raddenbach, Steven (Amy) Skoug, and Eric (Kris) Skoug; her grandchildren: Sarah (Andrew) Pedersen, Grace (Abram) Pedersen, Daniel Raddenbach, Hannah (Andy) Stoll, Claire Raddenbach, Jennie, and Nathan Skoug; and her great-grandchildren: Matthias, Norah, Zoe, and Mia Pedersen. Beverly is also survived by her brothers, Gary Nielsen and Charles (Colleen) Nielsen, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell; sisters-in-law Judy Nielsen, Diane Huth, and Muriel Skoug; and brothers-in-law Roger Huth and David Skoug.
A memorial service to celebrate Beverly’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 12:00 PM at Dovre Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Following the service, all are welcome to join the family for a luncheon and time to share stories and memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests making a donation to a charity close to your heart.
The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all of the wonderful folks at Just Like Home.
