Bienvenido Pelaez de Leon Obituary

Bienvenido Pelaez de Leon passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at his home. He was born April 1, 1928 in Barahona, Dominican Republic to Eligio Pelaez and Lidia Leon.
On January 6, 1972 Bienvenido married Ana Celia Lora in Barahona, Dominican Republic.
He graduated from the College of Physical Education in San Juan, Dominican Republic. He was employed for 26 years as a Physical Education Professor. He then became Physical Education Supervisor of the South Region. As part of his duties, he organized the National Games. He was a great proponent of sports and physical education in his area and was entered into the Sports Hall of Fame for promoting sports in all of the South Region of Dominican Republic. He was a beloved coach for volleyball, basketball, track and field and baseball. He also loved to play basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball. He also participated in a bodybuilding class for fun.
Bienvenido managed a family coffee plantation for many years. He enjoyed spending time at the farm with his family and teaching them how to work. They enjoyed many delicious fruits and produce that grew there.
Bienvenido is survived by his wife, Ana Celia Pelaez, Hooper; their children, Bienvenido E. Pelaez, Hooper; Samir E, Pelaez, Tucson, AZ; Sabdy O. Pelaez, Santo Domingo, D.R.; Magda A. Vallejo, Layton; Arely L. Peña, Roy; Haysel B. Pelaez, Syracuse; Teresa De J. Feliz, Roy, Keyla A. Pelaez, Faenza, Italy; Kenia Y. Pelaez Boatini, Rome, Italy; 32 grandchildren 29 great-grand-children; and one sister, Matilde Santana, Miami, Fl. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Adriana, Josefa, Adela, Lucia, Luciana, Teresa, Flora, Marta, Paula, and granddaughter Katherine E. Moroncini.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the mortuary.
