Bill Branch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Feb. 14, 2026.
William "Bill" Branch, 76, passed away February 11, 2026, at his home in Memphis, Tennessee.

He retired from the FedEx IT Department and spent many years after his retirement volunteering to help others. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Memphis Tigers fan and enjoyed playing golf and pool. He was also a music aficionado and some of his favorite bands were The Moody Blues, The Beatles, ELO, and The Rolling Stones. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle in his younger years. He was a member of Hope Church and delivered cookies for them throughout the city for many years and served on a mission trip in Mexico. He also volunteered at the Church Health Center for many years until COPD made it too challenging. Bill always had a funny story and a laugh to share and made everyone feel like a cherished friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; James Kennie and Frances Phillips Branch, and his brother, James Louis Branch.

Survivors include his children, Melody Branch McGaughey (Todd), Zack Branch (Sabrina), Godson Alex Hill, two siblings; Margaret Branch Dean (Steve), and David Branch (Gail), his Aunt Barbara Branch, five grandchildren; Greer and Gracie McGaughey, and Lexy, Reese, and Larkin Branch, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 20th at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Church Health Center at: https://churchhealth.org/give/donate/

Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119 (901) 767-8930.

Mr. Branch was one of the most loving, kind, funny, generous and accepting souls, I had the honor to know. He was loved and will be greatly missed. My sympathy and prayers for his family and friends and everyone who loved him dearly.

Everyone who knew Bill has a story. He would be your friend if you wanted him to be. First met Bill in 9th grade & we wrote notes in class. Always a smile on his face & a listening ear if you were sad. To know him was to love him. Lots of people going to miss you Bill. My sympathy to your family that you loved so much. Rest in peace my friend.

Prayers for the family & friends of Bill. We were friends in high school, & I remember his unique yet quiet sense of humor. Is there a funeral planned?
