BILL HEARN
Henderson, TN: Billy James Hearn, age 85 passed away September 28, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in Henderson on December 7, 1937, the son of the late Brice Wilson and Evelyn Saxton Hearn. His mother died three days after his birth, and he was raised by his Aunt Bonnie Palmer and uncle Marshall Saxton in the Montezuma Community. He served in the U.S. Army.
Bill worked for twenty-seven years as Investigator for the Henderson Police Department, served eight years as Henderson City Alderman, and served a four-year term as Vice-Mayor of Henderson. He was also maintenance personnel at Eastgate Apartments for thirty-four years.
He married Cheryl McGill Cupples in November 1995, and they enjoyed almost twenty-nine years together.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Jonathan Cupples, Jr. and Jacob Cupples whom he dearly loved.
He attended Pinson Church of Christ.
He also enjoyed mowing grass and spending time outdoors.
Mr. Hearn is survived by his wife, Cheryl Ann McGill Hearn of Henderson; two sons, Terry Hearn (Connie) and Barry Hearn (Shannon) both of Henderson; a daughter Nita McAdoo (Mike) of Murfreesboro; a stepson, Jonathan Cupples (Cassie) of Pinson; a stepdaughter, Debra Kee (Jeff) of Bells, TN and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Shirley Pounds.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 2nd at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Ray Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday and beginning at 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time on Monday.
