IN LOVING MEMORY OF BILL KENNICK
AUGUST 19, 1941 – FEBRUARY 17, 2025
PRICE- Bill Kennick, our beloved Father, Husband, Brother, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, passed away peacefully February 17, 2025, at his home in Price, Utah, surrounded by his loved ones.
Bill was born on August 19, 1941, in Price, Utah, to William (Bill) and Doris Kennick. He married Connie Pessetto on July 1, 1967. Together, they had two children, Billy and Tracy, and shared 22 years of marriage. In 1991, he married Leona Kay Holbrook, with whom he spent 30 years of his life. Bill met and married his final sweetheart, Thelda Wimmer, on November 30, 2024.
Bill graduated from Carbon High School in 1959 and later served in the Army National Guard. A gifted mechanic and journeyman electrician, Bill worked in the coal mines for 20 years, including 13 years as a mechanic boss for Kaiser Coal Company. He was known for his ability to fix just about anything, especially cars. In high school, he once tore apart the engine of his truck just to see if he could put it back together. He worked throughout the night, finishing just in time to drive it to school the next day.
Bill was proud to call Price his home. He designed and built his house there, and it was where he raised his family. He was an athlete in his youth, enjoying baseball and basketball, and he carried that love for the outdoors into his adulthood with a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping. Bill's strong connection to his hometown was matched by his deep faith. He was baptized at age 8 as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and cherished his relationship with Christ. He loved sharing this faith and speaking about his love for the Lord.
Known for his sharp wit and infectious sense of humor, Bill had a way of making everyone laugh. Even during his hospital stays, he would entertain his nurses, earning the title of their favorite patient and the "funniest guy in the hospital." Bill was also an entertainer at heart-he loved singing country songs and dancing, always ready to perform for anyone who would listen.
Above all, Bill had a generous heart. He enjoyed helping others and was always quick to offer assistance, whether it was fixing something in a friend or family member's home, or serving a delicious home-cooked meal to visitors. His family was his greatest love, and he cherished his little Maltipoo, Princess. He will be greatly missed by all of them.
Bill is survived by his wife, Thelda; children: Bill Kennick (Nadine) of Bluffdale, Utah and Tracy Kennick LaPray of Texas; three siblings: Elaine Marietti (Fred), Virginia Cosby, and Jim Kennick (Betty), all of Price, Utah; and eight grandchildren: Billy (Tori), Brock (Savanah) and Shaylee Kennick, and Jackson, McKinley, Reagan, Taylor, and Quincy LaPray. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Remi Kennick; his aunts, Marie Green and Evelyn Pappas; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Bottoms; father, William Kennick; grandparents, Frank and Antonia Kennick and Leonard and Eunice Jensen; as well as his brother, Larry Kennick, and sister, Lois Hanson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the nurses at Symbii Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Bill in his final days.
Funeral Service, Saturday, February 22, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Price 2nd Ward Chapel (Price North Stake Center) 449 North 100 East in Price. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Stake Center. Burial will follow in the Cliffview Cemetery.
