Bill L. LaCapra, 61, of Dunmore, died Saturday at home after being stricken. He and his wife, the former Ann Patrick Duffy, were married May 18, 2023, after being high school sweethearts and reconnecting after 25 years.
Born in Norfolk, Va., son of the late Louis and Eula Grainger LaCapra, Bill was a graduate of Dunmore High School class of 1980 and went on to obtain his associate degree from Johnson School of Technology. An outgoing guy who could talk with anyone, he was employed at General Dynamics for 35 years, a job he truly loved and where he made many great friends. He was a proud Eagle Scout and was heavily involved with the Boy Scouts, and always had a soft spot in his heart for animals, particularly dogs. He loved to travel, especially his birthday trips to Las Vegas where he'd always be having fun at the casinos playing poker and blackjack. Bill also enjoyed fishing, going out to eat, the beach, music and seeing concerts with his family.
Also surviving are his children and Ann's children, Thomas LaCapra and wife, Kirstin of Scranton; Holly Neshkova and husband, Bobby, of Scranton; Ryan LaCapra, of Waverly; Sarah Duffy, of Dunmore; and Kristin Policare and husband, Michael, of Dallas; grandchildren, Evan and Jaxon; his brothers, Gary LaCapra and wife, Kristen, of Dunmore; and Joseph Wrightson and wife, Cindy, of Virginia; his uncle, John LaCapra and wife, Linda, of Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Alan LaCapra; several aunts and uncles; and his dogs, Chester and Henry.
