Bill Parker Obituary

William “Bill” Glen Parker, age 104, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in Rhinebeck, New York, after a long and well-lived life.

Bill was born on June 16, 1921, in Sheffield, Alabama, to the late John and Ann Payne Parker. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran who served honorably during World War II. Following his military service, Bill worked as an iron worker and was a longtime member of Iron Workers Local 16 in Baltimore, Maryland, where he may have been the oldest living member. He later traveled the country as a construction supervisor for a large construction conglomerate, overseeing major projects across the United States.

Bill and his wife, Lillian, lived in the West Brow Community on Lookout Mountain for many years. During their time in Dade County, Bill also served with the Dade County Sheriff’s Department under Sheriff Philip Street. They eventually moved to Milan, New York, to be near the Church of the Nazarene at Camp Taconic, where they remained active in fellowship and ministry.

Known for his no-nonsense personality and disciplined nature, Bill proudly maintained his “Navy weight” of 159 pounds throughout his life. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who loved riding his Honda Goldwing. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, and American Legion Post 214 in Rossville, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian Lorraine Long Parker, and his children, Linda Lorraine Horner and Gary Glen Parker.

Left to cherish his memory are his stepson, Winston Parham; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to honor Bill’s life will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, GA, where American Legion Post 106 will perform final military honors. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Chattanooga Valley Baptist Cemetery.
