Bill Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Royal Oak on Jan. 20, 2026.
William G. "Bill" Scott III, of Birch Run (formerly of Pleasant Ridge), passed away on January 18, 2026.

Bill was born on September 25, 1957 in Pontiac to William and Barbara Scott. He grew up in Pleasant Ridge and graduated from Ferndale High School in 1976. After high school, Bill attended Oakland Community College for one year, where he studied accounting. He later worked at St. John's Episcopal Church, where he was a familiar and dependable presence.

From a young age, Bill was an exceptionally skilled woodworker. At just 12 years old, he began as an apprentice at Detroit Design & Specialties, a German cabinet shop, and continued working there throughout high school and during his time at Oakland Community College. His craftsmanship, patience, and attention to detail were hallmarks of his work. He later brought that same dedication to his role as custodian at St. John's Episcopal Church.

Bill was an avid coin collector with a particular passion for pennies. He also enjoyed the outdoors and spent his free time over years past swimming, canoeing, and horseback riding.

Bill will be remembered as the loving brother of Lynn Scott and beloved friend of Esther Paeth, Eva Kromer, and Melissa Cariveau.

Visitation for Bill will be held on Saturday, January 24 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service, 4:00 p.m., at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd. (four blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak.
