Bill Thomas, age 92, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Grace Care Center in Olney, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:00 am in True Cemetery with Dr. Chad Edgington, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Olney officiating. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home, with Dr. Chad Edgington officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Bill was born on October 11, 1933, to the late Forrest J. and Blanche N (Martin) Thomas in Archer County, Texas. He married Alice Chambers in July of 2000, and they spent nearly twenty years together before she preceded him in death in July of 2021. Bill was discharged from the Army in 1956 after serving two years. Bill retired from the service department at Sears, where he repaired TVs and appliances, and later repaired garage doors independently and helped local churches with janitorial work. He loved woodworking and made wood puzzles, he made a wagon and a doll crib for his grandchildren, and cabinetry and wall art for other family. Bill was an outstanding cook and brought armloads of food whenever he visited family. He was a longtime resident of Olney and had many friends in Olney and the surrounding areas. Bill was generous, thoughtful, and kind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice (Chambers) Thomas, his son Joel Marcus ‘Mark’ Thomas, and his two brothers: Jack Thomas and Cordie Thomas.
Bill is survived by his grandchildren, Joel Thomas II of Randlett, Oklahoma, JoLee Thomas of Randlett, Oklahoma, and Kenen Thomas of Coweta, Oklahoma, his sister Maryann Gordon and husband Philip of Lubbock, Texas, his sister-in-law Marcia Thomas of Houston, Texas, and his daughter-in-law Jenean Thomas of Randlett, Oklahoma, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
