Bill Toll succumbed to cancer at his home in Brandon on January 7, 2025, in the loving care of his family.
Bill’s life began in Fond du Lac, where he was born in 1959 to Virginia Pagel Toll and Lester Toll. He went to St. Mary’s Grade School and Woodworth Junior High and graduated from Goodrich High School.
Bill’s intelligence showed in many endeavors, but his smartest decision was to marry Clare Blakeslee Toll, his wife of 39 years, who provided unconditional love and support to him. Together they raised three great children, Ron, of Fond du Lac, Jacob, of Ashwaubenon, and Molly, also of Fond du Lac. Later, they welcomed Jake’s wife Lindsay into their family. Family was always Bill’s number-one priority.
Bill was a hard worker and spent most of his working life as a long-distance truck driver. His happy place was in one of Wisconsin’s state parks, camping alongside Clare and their dog Riley. Bill was a sports fan and supported all Wisconsin professional and college teams. He enjoyed a good joke and shooting the breeze with friends or family. His Christian faith was important to him and especially helped him as he passed from this life.
Bill will be missed by his siblings and their spouses, Mary Toll and Neal Crout, Pat and Dale Luther, Cathy Toll and David Fields, and Rich and Patti Jo Toll, as well as his mother-in-law Sandy Blakeslee, sisters- and brothers-in-law Bruce and LeAnne Blakeslee, Anna and Graham Paterson, Terry and Gordy Stenz, Gerard and Linda Blakeslee, Andrew and Kathy Blakeslee, Rebecca Lamers, Edward and Melinda Blakeslee, Amy and Rodney Pelles, and Brenda and Paul Goetsch, and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
Bill’s family are grateful to the many friends and family members who supported them through this time of challenge and transition. They especially appreciate family friend Sheila Engel, hospice nurse Janine Ramsey, and Dr. Punit Kumar for their compassionate care.
