Beryl William "Bill" Tosh, 79, of Goodman, Missouri, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed this life on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, following a sudden illness. He entered this life on January 11, 1946, in Neosho, Missouri, one of three children born to the union of the late Beryl Wayne and Fanny (Chandler) Tosh.
Raised in the rural McDonald County community of Splitlog, Missouri, Bill was a 1964 graduate of Anderson High School. His commitment to his hometown never wavered as he remained a lifelong area resident. Bill's professional life was marked by dedication and skill; he worked as a machinist at Vickers in Joplin for several years. When the plant closed, he seamlessly transitioned to truck driving, a career he pursued until his well-deserved retirement. His dedication to his country was equally notable, as he honorably served for 37 years with the Missouri Army National Guard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Oleta Tosh, of the home, and their six children: Daniel Tosh and wife, Misty, of Anderson; Clifton Tosh and wife, Shanda, of Verona; Angela Trotter and husband, Jonathan, of Mt. Vernon; Billie Jo Pyle and husband, Justin, of Carthage; Candace Schuler and husband, David, of Goodman; and Jackie Donaldson and Robert Lawson also of Goodman. His legacy continues through his twenty-four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with the joyous expectation of a sixth. Bill also leaves behind his brother, Ronnie Tosh and wife, TJ, of Neosho, and is fondly remembered by a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Shirley Jean Tosh.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill found solace and joy in the natural beauty of Missouri's landscape. He loved hunting and fishing, pursuits that not only provided him with a deep sense of peace but also allowed him to pass on his knowledge and passion for the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. In quieter moments, Bill could be found immersed in the pages of old western books, a genre that captured his imagination and spirit of adventure. His memory will be carried in the hearts of those who loved him, a legacy of a life filled with purpose, kindness, and an enduring love for his family and countless friends.
