Billie Single Obituary
Billie Ruth Single, 97, passed away on July 26, 2024, in Yuba City, CA. Born June 17, 1927, Billie was a person of strength, independence, kindness, and wit throughout her life. She cherished her family, guiding them through life's challenges with love and resilience.
Billie attended high school in Arizona and furthered her education at Yuba College. Her career spanned over four decades in local real estate, where she established herself as the owner and broker of Single Real Estate.
Even after the passing of her husband, Samual Single, in 1978, Billie managed their farm for another 46 years until her passing; demonstrating remarkable dedication and leadership. She even found time to be the weekend Postmistress at Rio Oso Post Office for several decades.
Her involvement in the community was significant. She was an active board member of the Friends of the Marysville Bok Kai Temple, Inc. She volunteered extensively in Marysville, CA, including the Chamber of Commerce, Marysville Sister City of Peikang, Taiwan, and was part of the delegation to visit Peikang.
Billie volunteered as a poll worker at the Rio Oso Community Hall. She also supported her children in school activities. She was both a Girl Scout and Camp Fire Girl Troop Leader. Billie was also a room mother at the Browns Elementary School and Parent Volunteer for the CSF Trips at East Nicolaus High School.
Her husband, Samual, served in the US Air Force for 20 years, which had them stationed both overseas, and in various states throughout his career.
Billie loved traveling, bird watching, and being a lifetime learner, always eager to acquire new skills and knowledge. She cherished gatherings with her family, creating lasting memories.
She is survived by her children, Julie Single, Wendy Davidson, and Janet Single-Schwall; son-in-law, David Schwall; and grandchildren, Christopher Davidson, Sarah Single-Schwall, Rachel Single Schwall, and Gabriel Single-Schwall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samual Single; son, Terry Single; baby girl Single; and granddaughter, Hannah Single-Schwall.
Billie also had two bonus daughters. Karen George, a family cousin who lived with Billie over the years, and created many wonderful memories together. Cristina Dinamarco was an exchange student from Brazil in 1975. Billie felt as if they were mother and daughter. The two families have remained in close contact.
If you would like to make any contribution in her memory, Billie always donated to the Aplastic Anemia Foundation, Disabled Vets, Friends of the Bok Kai Temple, and the National Parks.
Billie's legacy of community service, love for her family, and enduring spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
