Billy A. Caraway, 90, of DEL RIO, TN, passed away peacefully at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in 1934, Billy was the second child of the late John J. and Ruby H. (Thatcher) Caraway. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Caraway, Joyce Lynch, Mary Smith, and Delores Caraway. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Billy is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Sandra. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Caraway; his sons John D. Caraway (Sheree) and Douglas Caraway (Amber Brown); grandchildren Jessica Perkins (Caraway), John E. Caraway, Cody Caraway, Peyton Caraway, and Brennan Caraway; and four great-grandchildren, Liam, Eleana, Paislee, and Kemper. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Billy was a man of many talents and trades, working in insurance, maintenance, landscaping, and as an equipment operator. He also successfully owned and operated his own backhoe business. A dedicated member of his community, Billy served as a Deacon of the First Christian Church in Newport, Tennessee, and was a resident of Del Rio for 35 years. He found great joy in his church, his family, woodworking, and gardening. The family will receive friends and family for a visitation on Monday, August 18, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Manes Funeral Home, 363 East Main St., Newport, TN. The funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Martin Stump officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday, August 19, at 11:00 AM at Union Cemetery in Newport. Billy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
