Billy Joseph Cottner formerly of Perryville, Missouri passed away August 1, 2023 at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was born July 21, 1949 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Nobel and Evelyn (Vernon) Cottner.
Billy and Sherry Johnson were married August 2, 1975 in Perryville, Missouri.
Billy served in the United States Air Force from 1968-1972. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 1990. He was employed by the state of Illinois at Chester Mental Health Center for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Sherry, sons, Kyle Cottner and Kristopher (Nicole) Cottner and step-granddaughter, Gianna Porter, all of Las Vegas. Brother, Jerry Cottner and sister, Charlotte (Richard) Moldenhauer of Perryville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Billy was the finest example of a devoted husband and father. His favorite saying was, "Be fair, honest, and reasonable when dealing with people.", and he practiced this throughout his life.
A private service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 2 pm at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
