James Hormann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eaton Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Main Chapel on Feb. 4, 2026.
James William Hormann, 54, of Sullivan, Missouri, known affectionately as Jim, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on June 21, 1971, in Granite City, Illinois, to James Lee and Linda (Campbell) Hormann. Jim's charisma and intelligence were evident from his early years in Collinsville, Illinois and then throughout his teen years in Sullivan, Missouri. A proud graduate of Sullivan High School in 1989, Jim's love for learning propelled him to St. Louis University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and English. However, his thirst for knowledge drove him to continue at Southeast Missouri State University, where he completed his Master's Degree in Biology/Chemistry with emphasis in Wildlife management where he met the love of his life, Annette Schmitz.

Jim and Annette united in marriage on June 15, 1996, and together they built a beautiful family. Jim embraced Annette's son, Kyle Seabaugh, as his own and later was overjoyed to become the father of two sons, James Edward Lee and William Charles Thomas. Although Jim and Annette later divorced, they maintained a deep friendship, supporting each other as close confidants throughout the years to support their children.

Professionally, Jim's career was as dynamic as it was successful. He worked for various pharmaceutical companies, living in Connecticut, Delaware, Texas, and Pennsylvania where he contributed to advancements in medical healthcare. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to establish his own consulting firm, which he operated until 2020 when he decided to return to Sullivan to be closer to his parents and sons.

Jim's life was marked by a fierce work ethic and a brilliant mind. He was recognized for his intellect and skills, earning respect and accolades in his field. Despite being diagnosed with Berger's Disease at a young age, Jim faced his condition with unwavering courage and determination, never allowing it to define his life's achievements.

Family was the cornerstone of Jim's life, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His interests were as varied as they were passionate. Jim was an enthusiast of muscle cars, taking immense joy in his '72 Chevelle. He found solace and excitement in fishing on his boat and engaging in spirited gaming sessions on his Xbox. Although he was primarily a business traveler that preferred to stay at home, he still loved to work with different people throughout the world and he created lasting memories with various teams in Japan, Australia, and the US.

Jim's faith in God was a guiding force throughout his life, providing him with strength and comfort during his most trying times. His presence was a beacon of light to those around him, and he will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, his unwavering integrity, and his infectious enthusiasm for life.

Jim is survived by his sons: James E.L. Hormann and his fiancée, Alexandra Buss of Bristol, Connecticut, William C.T. Hormann of Columbia, MO, and Kyle Seabaugh and fiancée, Dawn Lambert of Jackson, MO; the mother of his children, Annette Hormann of Columbia, MO; his parents, James and Linda Hormann of Sullivan, MO; a brother, Joe Hormann and wife, Lisa of Bourbon, MO; a sister, Heather Bartle and husband, Tim of Cuba, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
