Ronald Allen Nye, 83, of
Sullivan, Missouri, known affectionately as Ron to his friends and family, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Born on June 17, 1942, in
St. Louis, Missouri to Forrest and Cleo (Souders) Nye, Ron's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and the unwavering love he had for his family and his faith.
Ron grew up in Bourbon, Missouri, where he attended local schools and graduated in 1959. His sense of duty and patriotism led him to dedicate four years of his life serving in the United States Air Force before receiving an honorable discharge. It was during his formative years that Ron met his high school sweetheart, Judy Falloon, at the local skating rink. Their love story blossomed, and they were married on December 23, 1961. Together, they welcomed three sons into the world: Todd, Bryan, and Dustin, who were the pride and joy of Ron's life.
The young family initially settled in Pacific, Missouri, where Ron worked for McDonnell Douglas. In 1965, they moved to Irving, Texas, where Ron began his career with LTV Aerospace. Demonstrating his commitment to personal growth and excellence, Ron obtained an Associate's degree in Business from Texas Christian University by diligently studying at night while working during the day.
In 1971, Ron and his family returned to Missouri, making St. Charles their home. He resumed his work with McDonnell Douglas and continued there until his early retirement in the 1980s. Ron's entrepreneurial spirit led him and Judy to establish Nye Building Company Inc., in 1978, combining Judy's expertise in building and contracting with Ron's passion for machinery. They successfully operated their company, building homes and developing subdivisions.
Later, Ron and Judy moved to Farmington, where they engaged in real estate purchases and rental properties. In 1995, they settled in Sullivan, taking on the care of Judy's aging parents. When the COVID pandemic struck, Ron faced a significant health challenge, falling into a coma for two months. In a miraculous turn of events, he awoke to Judy's voice and, with determination, regained his health, granting his family precious additional years with him.
Ron's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily actions and decisions. He had a deep love for work and was always contemplating new business ventures, even in his later years. His passions included tractors, machinery, and "moving dirt." He cherished time spent with his family, ensuring he was present for quality moments and creating special memories like wild boating trips with his sons and outings to the river and different lakes. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart and he talked about them with everyone he met.
An avid fan of old country music, Ron also enjoyed collecting belt buckle's and antique pocket watches. His relationship with God was of utmost importance to him, and he lived his life as a true man of faith.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Judy; his sons: Todd Nye of Chesterfield, MO, Bryan Nye and wife, Kristi of Washington, MO and Dustin Nye and wife, Karen of Augusta, MO; 8 grandchildren: Madison Nguyen and husband, Andrew of Boerne, TX, Cobern Nye of St. Albans, MO, Gracie Plunenneke and husband, Jake of Austin, TX, Shepard Nye of Columbia, MO, Holden Nye and wife, Kinsley of Bonne Terre, MO, Mackenzie Chorenziak and husband, Tim of St. Petters, MO, Parker Hasley and husband, Dustin and Paige Smith and husband, T.J. all of Tulsa, OK; 6 great grandchildren: Jameson, Teddy, Baker, Beckham, Holland, & Abram; a brother, Michael Nye and wife, Anne of St. Peters, MO; 4 sisters: Patricia Lizotte, Sharon Babcock both of Rolla, MO, Linda Brown of Bentonville, AR, and Nancy Horner of Portland, OR; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
