A celebration of life service for Billy Glidewell, 81, is set for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Rayburn Richardson and Bro. Brad Vuncannon officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
Billy passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on February 22, 1945, in Alcorn Co. to the late Oliver and Vada Arnold Glidewell. He was a member and Deacon of Holly Baptist Church where he loved to fellowship with his church family He was a 1963 graduate of Kossuth High School. After graduation Billy went to work at Wurlitzer/Leedo from which he retired. He enjoyed woodworking, car races, telling tales, jokes, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Billy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Evetts Glidewell; daughter, Sherry Rencher (Jeff); grandson, Taylor Rencher (Hannanh); brother, Maury Daniel Glidewell (Sara); sister-in-law, Flora Brand; Carys Goodwin and Gunner Goodwin who loved him and called him "Pawpaw."
Pallbearers will be Tracy Mills, Tanner Mills, Charlie Curtis, Jr., Charlie Curtis III, Dean Goodwin, and Gunner Goodwin.
