Billy Ray Hampton, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on December 5, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on June 10, 1959, in Georgetown, Kentucky, Billy lived a life characterized by friendliness. His final days were spent surrounded by love in
Lexington, Kentucky, the city that he had made his home and where he left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he knew.
Billy shared 39 joyous years with his beloved wife, Mary Hampton. Together, they raised a family that included their children, Marty Dunn (Tim), and Joseph Hampton (Alex). His legacy continued through his grandchildren, Christian Richardson, Skylar Strunk (Matt), Chaney Dunn, and Clayton Richardson; and great-grandchildren, Colton Richardson, and Maevery Strunk. Billy's life was further enriched by his brothers and sisters, James Foster Hampton, Robert Lee Hampton, and Donna K. Hawkins. His best friend, Jack Burton, stood by his side through thick and thin, embodying the true meaning of friendship.
A career that spanned over two decades, Billy dedicated 23 years and 7 months as a skilled mechanic at Prolift in
Lexington, KY. His hands were not only adept at fixing machines but at building relationships. Billy was a man renowned for his friendly demeanor and handy skills, often being the go-to person for anyone in need.
Billy found joy in the simple pleasures, most notably the time he spent with family and friends. His approach to life can be captured in the timeless words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a better place... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."

Lexington, Kentucky, 40507. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 08, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street,
Lexington, Kentucky, 40507. Following the service on Monday, interment will conclude at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Joseph Hampton, Christian Richardson, Clayton Richardson, Tim Dunn, Matt Strunk, and Donnie Reeves. Honorary pallbearers include Jack Burton, Chip Burton, Dale Dailey, David Vest, Rex Mulberry, Colton Richardson, Chase Bennett, and Nick Goodwin.
