Billy Joe Henshaw

Billy Joe Henshaw, age 93 of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Lynchburg Nursing Home. He was born in Madison County, Alabama on June 17, 1930, to the late Orville and Jessie (Reid) Henshaw. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Bill worked for Tullahoma City Schools for ten years as a teacher before becoming the Superintendent of Moore County Schools for six years. He was also a farmer for many years. He enjoyed traveling, working with horses, and was an avid historian who loved reading and going to the library. Bill was a devoted member of Lynchburg First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Peggy Slama, Kenneth Henshaw, Opal Wallace, Nancy Johns, Bobbie Duncan, Ruth Embry, Orvilene Hatchett, and Ruby Green. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Helen Rhoton Henshaw of Lynchburg; children, Linda (Mitch) Gass of Lynchburg, Ray (Gina) Henshaw of Lynchburg, and Keith (Stacey) Henshaw of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Lori Searcy, Cody Gass, Lindsey Hinshaw, Haley Overholt, Parker Henshaw, Austin Henshaw, Emily Hill, and Mason Henshaw; and great-grandchildren, Carly Searcy, Caden Searcy, Libby Gass, Lainey Gass, Declan Overholt, Kolbie Overholt, Tripp Hill, and Millie Hill. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Gray officiating.
