“The greatness of a man is not how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him”
Billy Jack Moody Jr., 57, of Reidsville, NC passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at his home. There are many people that come into your life for a season and then those that come into your life and forever leave a lasting impression, and BJ exuded that trait.
Often quiet, with his mind spinning of something clever and witty to say at just the right moment, often finding time to take a moment “to go and get his head right” he was a free spirit that could leave you smiling and scratching your own head trying to read into tidbits of philosophy he would bestow upon you.
He loved with a fierceness, was always up for a good time and enjoyed the simpler things in life. He was not a complicated man and taught his girls to enjoy the simple things like lake life, earthy finds, good music and to be cool and happy. He was the embodiment of peace, love and rock and roll.
BJ was born in Scottsboro, Alabama to the late Billy Jack Moody Sr. And Sylvia Rosella Gilley.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his stepfather Claude Swanson Gilley, nephew Michael Paul Wininger and niece Sherry Hancock.
He is missed greatly and survived by his daughters Virginia Lee Plascencia (Adam Coghlan) and Amanda Marie Beasley (Brian Beasley), his sisters Sheila Moody Hundley and Lisa Moody, and his brother Tony Gilly (Mary Gilley). He was the proud grandpa to 3 grandsons- Holden Liam Plascencia, Grayson Wyatt Plascencia and Sawyer Kane Plascencia, who he enjoyed spending weekends with and throwing in a line at the river. He is also remembered fondly by his extended family and friends.
He is finally pain-free and can be “HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY” as he made us all. We know that with his fun-loving spirit he would want us all to live life at full throttle and never stop pondering. His girls and grandsons will miss his hugs but will feel his love every day when we see the little things he leaves for us and the messages in the sky and reminds our soul to stay “Trippy Hippie”.
A private memorial celebration will be planned at a later date.
