Billy Howard Kidd
Billy Howard Kidd was born on August 15, 1936, in Sikes (Winn Parish), Louisiana, and passed away on January 20, 2026, in Minden, Louisiana, at the age of 89.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Crain Kidd and Hershel Kidd, and sister, Faye Braswell.
He was a proud graduate of Minden High School, Class of 1954. He attended Louisiana Tech University, earning a B.S. of Petroleum Engineering in 1959 and in 1967 completing an additional M.S. of Petroleum Engineering.
Billy dedicated his professional life to the oil & gas and financial industries. He worked for 18 years with Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation as General Manager of the Systems Engineering Department before continuing his career at Bossier Bank & Trust as Vice President of the oil & gas loan department. In 1978, he joined ArkLa Gas Co. and retired in 1992 from Arkla Energy Resources as Assistant Vice President of Operations Planning.
Billy was also deeply committed to service and community. He was a proud 34-year member of the Lions Club International and was recognized as the senior Lion by age in the Minden Lions Club—a distinction that reflected both his longevity and dedication to serving others.
Outside of work and service, Billy’s greatest passion was sports. He was an avid fan of the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters and never missed a Minden High School basketball game. Sports were everything to him. He faithfully attended every sporting event of his grandchildren, showing his love through presence, consistency, and unwavering support from the stands.
Billy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years. He served in the Young Boys Sunday school department, the singles department, and the finance committee. He was member of the Dr. Ronald Prince Chapel Class.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, LeVerne Langheld Kidd; his son, Robert Kidd, and wife Lola; and his daughter, Sabrina McEachern, and husband Steve. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Peaker and husband Butch Peaker.
He leaves behind six grandchildren: Robbie Meshell, Erika Harmon, Jack Kidd, Kasey Kidd, Kayla Nicholas, and Shelby Bolyer; and six great-grandchildren: Bowen Meshell, Emmaline Harmon, Kaleb Kidd, Evan Harmon, Rhett Bolyer, and Josie Bolyer.
Billy Howard Kidd will be remembered for his dedication to family, his professional integrity, his service to the community, and the way he showed love—by always showing up. His legacy lives on through the generations who will forever remember him cheering from the stands.
Pallbearers: Jack Kidd, Kasey Kidd, Brandon Meshell, Marcus Harmon, Carson Bolyer, and Hayden Brown.
Services will be held on January 22, 2026, at First Baptist Church West Chapel at 1:30 p.m.with Bro. Bill Crider and Bro. Charlie Lechner officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden, Louisiana under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
