ERWIN - Billy Gene Lloyd, age 68, of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. A native of Marshall, NC, Billy is a son of the late Reverend Henderson Presley "HP" Lloyd and Hazel Jean (McIntosh) Lloyd. He was a member of Temple Hill Church of God and Lower Higgins Creek Church of God, and loved being a carpenter, but was a "Jack of all trades". He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mowing, and was always working on something. In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna Ann (Youngblood) Lloyd; son, Stephen Dewayne Lloyd; two brothers: Michael Lloyd and Danny Lloyd; sister, Mary "Ruthie" Lloyd; niece, Victoria Nichole "Nikki" Lloyd; and nephew, Seth Daniel Robinette.
Billy Gene Lloyd has left behind to cherish his memory: son, Josh Lloyd (Mistie); grandsons: Austyn Lloyd, Garrett Lloyd, and Jakob Blankenship; great-grandsons: Colson Hensley and River Lloyd; brother, Reverend Stephen "Pete" Lloyd (Kim); several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved him dearly; and his good pal, Buddy, his dog.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Laura Cox and Carla and Debbie, Cherokee Mountain Medical, for the wonderful care they provided.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Billy Gene Lloyd in a funeral service to be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Russ Hayes and Reverend Pete Lloyd will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday and will continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery following the funeral. Those who wish to attend the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 1:30 pm to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Lloyd, Jakob Blankenship, Austyn Lloyd, Garrett Lloyd, Braeden Cantrell and Bobby Silvers. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Lloyd and Rodney Price.
