Billy Edward McCarty

Billy Edward McCarty, 84, of Watkinsville, passed away on January 2, 2026. Born on June 11,1941, in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Horice McCarty and Lila Watson. Billy spent most of his career working as a manager at Levelor Home Fashions where he retired. Upon retirement, he took a job at Wal-Mart where he enjoyed interacting with others. He was kind and friendly towards everyone he met. While he loved spending time with others, he also found comfort spending time at home watching westerns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eddie McCarty. 

Survivors include his wife, Tonda McCarty; son, Terry McCarty (Deborah); daughter, Tera Armstrong; step daughters, Sarina McClaine (Chris), Christy Pass (James); brother, Alton McCarty; four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, Watkinsville. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow the service at Oconee Memorial Park.
