MARK McCARTY

McCARTY--Mark J., of New York City and Aiken, South Carolina, died January 20, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Born December 19, 1946 in New York City to H.J. and Barbara McCarty, he attended Niagara Military Academy and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked in the family business, H.J. McCarty & Son, before founding The Garden Room, a garden design business on Lexington Avenue in New York City. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara M. Bluestone. He is survived by his wife, Paddy Ann Higgins Burns, her daughters Cawthra and Ainsley, and his siblings Chip, John, Matthew, Michael, and Eileen. A private service will be held. Donations may be made to the American Prostate Disease Research Fund.
