Billy Joe Novosad

Billy Joe Novosad, 61, lifetime resident of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Portneuf Medical Center.

Billy was born in Blackfoot on September 11, 1964 to John Paul Novosad and Mary Elizabeth Jorgensen Novosad. He attended Elmwood Elementary, Blackfoot Junior High School and Blackfoot High School. He earned a perfect attendance certificate in 1976.

Billy had worked for the Morning News, at Walmart as a door greeter, and worked for the City of Blackfoot sanitation department.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Billy was a proud and active member of the Sons of the American Legion for over 20 years. He enjoyed being on the honor guard team with the Stewart Hoover Post #23 of the American Legion.

He loved to fish and hunt and be outdoors. He liked putting models together as well as coloring, painting and doing crafts. He especially loved being with his dog, Chippy.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Billy is survived by his brother, Mike Jorgensen and sister Thad Wagner; his nephew/best friend/partner in crime Chris Novosad; nephews Justin Wagner and Wyatt Wagner and niece Shantay Schuessler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ellen Novosad; and niece Aron Kennedy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Grove City Cemetery.
